Our approach to your privacy
Naseem Islam is built offline-first on purpose: almost everything you do in the app — reading the Qur'an, studying Hadith, tracking your prayers, using the Qibla compass — happens entirely on your own device and is never seen by us. The small number of features that do use a server are ones we build and run ourselves, never a third party, and we do not run advertising, third-party analytics, or third-party tracking of any kind. The one exception — a small, anonymous usage count — is explained below.
What stays entirely on your device
- The Qur'an, Hadith collections, tafsir and all translations
- Prayer time calculations, the Hijri calendar and your Qibla direction
- Your tasbeeh counts, prayer tracker history, reading progress and favorites
- Your app settings and preferences
None of the above is ever transmitted to or stored on our server.
Your location
If you allow location access, it is used only to calculate prayer times and your Qibla direction. This calculation happens on your device — your location is never sent to or stored on our server.
If you create an account
An account is entirely optional; every core feature of the app works without one. If you do create one, your name, email address and password — stored only as a secure, irreversible hash, never as plain text — are sent to our server to enable sign-in and any account-based features you choose to use.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, a device token is registered with our notification service so we can deliver prayer reminders and campaign updates. This token identifies your device for delivery purposes only, and notifications can be turned off at any time from Settings.
How we count app opens
To get a rough idea of how many people use the app, and which of our hosted recitations or media are played, the app sends a randomly generated install identifier to our own server — at most once a day when you open the app, and once each time you play something we host. This identifier is not your name, email or any hardware identifier, cannot be linked back to you or your account, is never sold, shared with a third party or used for advertising, and exists only to produce an aggregate count.
Kids Corner
A child's profile — a name, age and a chosen avatar — is created and stored only on the device it was set up on. If a parent, while signed into their own account, chooses to enter a child into the optional shared leaderboard, that child's name, age, avatar and points are sent to our server, and the name, avatar and points become visible to other users on the leaderboard. This is entirely optional, off by default, and always requires the parent's own account. We recommend using a nickname rather than your child's real name for this purpose.
Community
Where the community feature is enabled, anything you post is visible to other users and is reviewed against our community guidelines — a post may be held for review or removed. You can report any post you believe breaks the guidelines at any time. You can also block another member at any time, from a reply itself or from Settings → Blocked users; this is stored only on your device, applies only to what you see, and the blocked member is not told.
Support requests and content corrections
If you contact support or report an issue with the app's content, we receive what you write, along with your name and email if you choose to include them. If you submit a content report without signing in, no identifying information is attached to it. This information is used only to look into and respond to what you've reported.
What we never do
- We do not run advertising of any kind
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with any third party
- We do not require an account for any core feature of the app
Your control
You can sign out at any time from Settings, or permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete my account. Deleting your account removes your profile and everything tied to it — including a child's optional leaderboard entry, circle and Khatm memberships, and community posts — right away; this cannot be undone. Data that lives only on your device — your prayer tracker history, tasbeeh counts, favorites and settings — stays under your control and is removed by uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
Naseem Islam's Kids Corner is designed to be used by children under a parent's guidance, through a parent's own account. We ask that a parent or guardian set up and supervise any child profile, and that a parent's consent stand behind any decision to join the optional leaderboard described above.
